Lead Pastor // Steve Keller
Steve grew up in Wilmington, NC (Wrightsville Beach). His father, Ron, was a chemical engineer at General Electric. His mother, Noel “Lovie” Keller, was a Registered Nurse. He has one sister, Emily, who is married. They all still reside in Wilmington.
Steve has been involved in church all his life. His family attended a Southern Baptist church for several years until they joined an EPC church in the mid-’80s. He attended Appalachian State University from 1986-1990 where he met Jane at Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship. After college Steve was in Youth Ministry from 1989–1995 at his home church and later at a church in Indiana. He attended Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, MA, from 1995-1999 where he enjoyed life in New England, marathon running, and 4 grueling winters while pursuing his Master of Divinity degree.
Along the way, Steve has served in the EPC as a church planter, interim pastor and a Senior Pastor. He also labored “out of bounds” as the chaplain for NASCAR for 3 full seasons. Steve’s other notable jobs before pastoral ministry include: voice acting in radio commercials, painting houses, Domino’s Pizza delivery, security guard, and church building and maintenance. Finally, although Steve hates country music, he has a published country song with BMI records.
Steve loves everything outdoors, reading classical literature, music, fine art, sports, Carolina basketball, almost everything connected to laughter, his amazing wife and family and finally his lifelong adventure with God.
Jane grew up mostly in Greensboro, NC. Her father, Frank, was a financial software developer; and her mother, Margaret, was a schoolteacher and later an “at home” Mom. Jane has three sisters and a brother who all lived on the East Coast, although one sister and her family have since moved to Colorado.
Jane grew up in a non-denominational church until she married Steve and has been in the EPC ever since. She attended ASU with Steve and completed her degree in Special Education at UNC Wilmington after they were married.
Jane loves the outdoors, cooking, writing and life “around the table.”
