Joys

  • We are grateful for the safe return of all those attending the “The Gospel in Our Cities” conference in Chicago this past week. Pray for their processing and sharing of all they have heard and experienced.

Prayer Requests

  • Westy Smith as he recovers from hip replacement.
  • Doug Graff as he continues to recover from heart valve replacement.
  • Neva Woerner as she heals from a fall in her apartment.
  • The Music Ministry Assistants from UNC who sing in our choir. For health and success in their school year.
  • Bob Schmidt as he continues in rehab at Bonnell. For God’s strength and peace each day.
  • For the upcoming “Grandparents’ Retreat” to minister deeply to grandparents wanting to develop meaningful legacies with their grandchildren.
  • The caregivers in our midst to be sustained in stamina, health, and joy as they pour out their lives for loved ones.
  • Those suffering dementia-related issues. For courage and strength to face each day in His strength, presence, and assurances.
  • For Dos Rios, the elementary school we support. May teachers, students, school staff and volunteers thrive this year.

Community Connect

The Nominating Committee is at work and would like to encourage you to give them suggestions for Elder and Deacon. Please talk to anyone on the committee to submit your suggestion, but ask your nominee first to make sure they are willing to serve. You can also nominate yourself if God is calling you to serve as Elder or Deacon. The committee members are Ken Wiggers, Linda Ziegler, Marilyn Beattie, Gerry Miyoshi, Sue Hurt, Bob Alexander, and Gary Casseday.

On October 27th at 4:00 Firm Foundations is having a Fall party for young families hosted by John and Ramona Baker. There will be hay rides and Weiner and games and FUN for the whole family! Just bring a picnic dish to share. Questions? Call Gary or Kim at (970) 381-1253.

Operation Christmas Child shoebox campaign is about to get into full swing. Please be watching for items to fill a box for a special child! Remember, most of the boxes from our area go to Spanish-speaking countries, so think warm climates! The boxes will be available starting 11/4, and the final collection Sunday is 11/18.

Pledge Card Sunday
Next Sunday, Oct. 28 is our “Pledge Card Sunday”. We encourage everyone to bring in their pledges for 2019. If you did not receive a Pledge Card they are available at the Welcome Center

Ministry Team Meetings Monday 10/22
All committees and teams are invited to gather for a time of worship, prayer and sharing Mon. October 22nd, at 6:00 pm in the Celebration Center. The gathering time will run from 6:00 to 6:45. Thank you
We want to thank everyone for your prayers and support for us during Craig’s surgery and through the blips and bumps, he had during recovery! We appreciate each one and felt every prayer! We enjoyed the cards, calls, and notes. Craig is doing and feeling well. We were released by all doctors to come home. Thank you all!

Honoring Veterans
Dos Rios Elementary, a Cornerstone sponsored school, is honoring veterans on the morning of Friday, November 12th. There will be a meet and greet at 8:30am followed by an assembly at 9 and visits to classrooms at 9:45am. Your presence will make this event memorable to both the veterans and the students. RSVP to Christine Sallee at 348-1356. The school is located at 2201 34th Street in Evans, CO. There are invitations at the Welcome Center.

 Clean Water – 2018
October 28th, NEXT SUNDAY, is the last Sunday to contribute toward the clean water project. EVERY CHILD DESERVES WATER! Make checks to Cornerstone and write clean water on the memo line.

Middle East Trip
Cornerstone will be going to the Middle East this summer! If you are interested in going or learning more about the trip please come to the Celebration Center this Sunday 10/21 for a brief info meeting immediately following the first and second service!

  • We have the joy of sending off several of our people to the Dr. Tim Keller conference, “The Gospel in our Cities” in Chicago. They leave this Wednesday and return Saturday. Please pray for their children and caregivers while they are away and for God’s presence and counsel in their experience. Those going are: Matt and Pam LaPorte, Atkelt and Lisa Simon, Phil and Tammi Van Drunen, Jeff and Jamie Cook, Danielle Rutz, Lindsay Easter, Gerardo and Sarah Mireles, Nicholas and Julie Noce, Donny and Roxie Butkus and Don Orange.

Cornerstone Arts Spotlight

Middle Hour Update: Join us today in the Celebration Center during the middle hour (9:45-10:45) for an update about the future of Cornerstone. Sunday, Oct. 28 will be our “Pledge Card Sunday” in each service – we are encouraging everyone to bring in their pledges for 2019 on that day.

October 17 from 4:30 – 6:30 is the Open House for Weld’s Way Home Housing Navigation Center at 2930 11th Ave, Evans. The HNC was established to prevent homelessness and housing instability by connecting people to community services in an effective and timely manner.
