Joys

  • Nineteen senior high schoolers and their sponsors had a great retreat last weekend. Pray God will continue to use the experience and message of their weekend together for His kingdom and purposes.

Prayer Requests

Please pray for the following:

  • For the grieving families and community in Florida in the high school shootings this week. Strengthen His churches in the area as they come alongside.
  • Dee Horton is now back home and receiving Hospice care.
  • Edna Middlemas and daughter, Mary Ellen, are continuing to adjust to Edna’s rehab at home.
  • Chris McLaughlin is home and having a better week.
  • Sharon Classen has a new chemo drug being administered this Tuesday.
  • Pray for Jean and George Maxey and for their family as Jean is moving into Hospice care at home.
  • For Gary Thomas and Amy Ness as they move through grieving the loss of their spouses, and Donny Butkus in the loss of his grandmother.
  • For Sue Pfund’s healing and recovery from her knee surgery and for Larry Marrs following his hip replacement this past week.
  • Pray for Becca Battaglini (daughter of Norm and Ellen Laurence) who tentatively is scheduled to have surgery for a rare skin cancer on Monday.
  • For our police community and officers connected to our community of faith: Pete Bratton, Andy Gilmore, Brent Hogsett and Nate Yeh. Pray for protection and a deep sense of God’s presence with them all.
  • For health for our people and Greeley in the wake of all the flu and serious colds and viral infections.
  • For Sharon Kurz-Wagner and the Transition Team as final preparations are made for the all-church survey being sent in March.
  • For the people of Cornerstone as they observe this Lenten season.

Friendship Families are those interested and committed to befriend a pair of international students and connect with them about once a month while the students are in Greeley. When and how you connect is up to you and the students. UNC students vary from undergrads here for one semester to doctoral students here for 5 years. Birthday Celebration: Neva Woerner will be celebrating her 90th Birthday on February 25th!!! There will be a celebration on Sunday, February 25th, from 2 pm- 5 pm at Bonnell Good Samaritan in the Waltz Room.

Lightseekers Potluck: Lightseekers will meet at 1:00 pm, February 24th, for Pops & Pasta at the Greeley Recreation Center! If you have questions please contact Ida May Else at 970-330-7716.

Pastor Search Team: The Session is accepting nominations for individuals to serve on the pastor search team. The EPC guidelines recommend a team of 7, consisting of 2-3 elders, 1 deacon, and 3-4 congregational members. A team of elders will interview those whose names are brought forward and will create a slate that will be voted on by the congregation.

Qualifications for a potential search team candidate are:

  • They feel called by God to serve and have agreed to do so.
  • They are spiritually mature, discerning members who are not new to the church.
  • They are able to devote considerable time for an extended period.
  • They are not current staff.Please submit names to any elder by Wednesday, March 7.

Dos Rios needs to update their playground: Donate gently worn, used or new shoes into the tubs in the atrium until March 4th. The school will be paid by the pound for the shoes. The shoes go to grow small businesses in poor areas of the world.

Children between age three through third grade are dismissed in the middle of the worship service for a time of age-appropriate teaching in the Children’s Chapel (downstairs from the Welcome Center).

Prayer Requests

Please pray for the following:

  • For Dee and Don Horton as Dee recovers from her procedure to repair a fractured femur.
  • For Edna Middlemas and her daughter, Mary Ellen, as Edna has now moved back home. For wisdom and safety and peace and more healing as they transition back to life at home.
  • For Chris McLaughlin who has been hospitalized at NCMC this week due to her difficulties with the cancer she is battling. For God’s peace and comfort.
  • For Sharon Classen in her cancer treatments, for strength and health for Sharon and Aldo.
  • For Gary Thomas (wife, Bev) and Amy Ness (husband, Dick) as they grieve the loss of their loved ones.
  • For God’s comfort and presence to be fully made known to them and their families.
  • For Sue Pfund as she does rehab following a knee replacement.
  • For Nina Lu and her home country of Taiwan as people grieve the loss of life and destruction to the country through this week’s earthquake.
  • For Pete Bratton and Andy Gilmore and all the local police officers as they move through the loss of three officers. Pray for their safety and for peace and comfort for all affected by these recent tragedies.
  • For Donny Butkus and family in the loss of his grandmother this week. Pray for God’s comfort and safe travels for Donny as he goes to Washington state for the service this weekend.
  • For all those who are in nursing homes from our community of faith. For their strength and peace.
  • Safe travel for our high school group as they return from camp this afternoon.

Resource Center Gala: The “Life Rocks!” Gala for The Resource Center will be held on Thursday, March 8th at 6 pm. A table has been reserved for Cornerstone members and friends who would like to learn more about financially supporting this ministry. Eight tickets are available.
