Happy 4th of July everyone!  We hope you had a great day celebrating this country in which we live.  About 20 of us had fun handing out water (500+ bottles) and welcoming parade-goers to the restrooms (200 + uses). Thank you to all who helped, especially to the Kurz-Wagners for organizing and providing the water!

Looking back, several members of Cornerstone appreciated Don Orange’s Friendshipfirst class in May; and many participated in 30 Days of Prayer for Muslims during Ramadan.  Thank you to our Habitat Builders who had to flex to a different build day.  Special thanks to Gary Casseday for organizing and reorganizing the work day!  Thank you all for your participation in the Resource Center Baby Bottle Campaign.

And now it’s summer and we are blessed to hear from several of our missionaries serving around the world.  On June 24th we heard from the Cummings about their new mission work with StoryRunners.  On July 2nd, a small group had fun actually learning a story with Jocelyn Johnson.  Jocelyn will be with us on July 15th to follow up with additional information about this unique ministry.  In between on July 8th, Doug and Ann Johnson will visit with their pastor and his wife (Sefa and Seda) who will share their story from 9:30 – 10:30 in the Celebration Center.  On July 22nd our dear friend, Greg Ehlert, will be preaching at both services.  In the afternoon we will have an ice cream social (from 3 – 5 in the Celebration Center) to hear about Greg’s ministry over the past year and to catch up with the Ehlert family.  Finally, In September we will be able to hear from the Rays (Jim Keefer’s granddaughter and family) about their work in North Africa.

There are opportunities for you to be involved over the next 2 months.  Soccer Without Borders is running a camp for elementary and middle school immigrants from July 7 – 27:   they could use volunteers to help.  There is more information in the Connect.  Serve Day is Saturday, July 14th.  You are welcome to come even if you didn’t sign up.  Meet at Montfort Park at 8 am and then work from 9 – 12 on a project in Greeley.  Gather again at noon for lunch at Zoe’s Café.  What a great way to show the love of our faith community to our neighbors!  On July 21st at noon you are invited to the dedication of the Faith Build Home 2018 to Chela Bonifacio and her family. The address is 1314 29th Street Rd.  Cornerstone has provided builders, a welcome basket of kitchen utensils, a gift card for pots and pans and the staging of Adrianna’s bedroom (Chela’s young daughter).  Habitat is so grateful for our participation.  We are continuing to pray for our church and its ministries.  There is a list for prayer focus at the Welcome Center and on the church website. On July 18th join us at Karen Wittnam’s home from 4 – 5 pm.  On August 15th we will pray at Pam and Matt LaPorte’s home.  Mark your calendars for August 12th when there will be one service at 10 am and then a Block Party/BBQ at noon for our church and our church neighbors.  Don’t miss this opportunity to fellowship with our neighbors!  Finally, on August 19th you are invited to a fundraising brunch for Elshadai to be held in the Celebration Center between services.  That will be the first Sunday we return to services at 8:15 and 11:00.

On the horizon, we will be discussing a possible adult mission trip to Turkey in 2019.  Doug Johnson and Jared Welsh will be sharing information with us.  We were so happy to learn that the well at Orkunguu School in Tanzania has been repaired and a fence to protect the school will soon be installed.  The team is planning a trip to Tanzania in 2019.  So start praying about whether a mission trip is in your future!

Blessings on the remainder of your summer.

Your Mission Team,

Alex Murphy, Pam LaPorte, Shaunda Gaffney-Barile, Gary Casseday, Jean and Dick Smith
