Well friends, 1/3 of 2018 is behind us. Are you dining with Jesus and resting in Him on the Sabbath? The good news? We have 2/3 of the year yet to practice!
Way back in March we had a blessed Saturday providing lunch for the Habitat Faith build workers from Greeley and Windsor Vineyard Churches. And who should appear but Tami Green! That was also the day that 2 homes were dedicated: one to a Burmese family that Ken and Connie Wacker have walked beside, and one to an Eritrean family befriended by Don and Mary Orange and Mary Collins. We also had the joy of Flavia, the Brown’s visiting educator from Brazil, working with us. Thanks, Bryan Sarchet, for joining force with us.
Also in March, we partnered with Children’s Ministry to collect 355 cans/81 pounds of tuna for the Weld Food Bank. Thank you all so much!
The Easter Breakfast team so ably led by Pam LaPorte appreciates your support. We cleared more than $1,000 so that we could bless Habitat with a check for more than $2,000 toward the Faith Build.
The Resource Center had an amazing “Life Rocks” event at the Double Tree. It was a joy to see Curtis Sears’ Life Group helping. Wes Baker was stunning in his tux!
Now on to what’s coming. On May 16, 23, and 30, our own Don Orange will be teaching a modified FriendshipFirst class at Zoe’s Café. This class will help us learn how to befriend the Muslims around us…and invite them to dinner with Jesus! Register by texting Don @ 970-590-7292. Please remember to pray for the Muslim world during Ramadan, May 15 – June 14.
Very soon there will be a Summer Prayer List suggesting ministry areas of our church to pray for during the next 4 months. There will also be a once monthly time and place to gather for group prayer. Keep an eye on the website and Welcome Center for information.
Many churches in Greeley, including Cornerstone, are in the planning stage for Serve Day 2018, July 14th from 8 am to 12 noon. The goal is to complete 15 home improvement projects and 15 projects to help non-profits during 4 hours. Sally Otto, Mike Ewert, LouAnn Sandin, Julie Hall and Donny Butkus will be helping to encourage small groups to engage in this international event. “We exist to serve others by showing God’s love in practical ways. Simple acts of kindness can open hearts to the love of Jesus. Together we can make a difference.” More information to follow…
On July 4th we have the opportunity to once again show hospitality to our neighbors by opening the church and restrooms during the parade. We will provide bottles of water also. Many thanks to Sharon Kurz-Wagner for stepping up to help with this event.
On July 8th we welcome Doug and Ann Johnson with their Turkish pastor and his wife. There will be brief sharing during the service and more in depth time after first service and into second.
On July 22nd Greg Ehlert will fill the pulpit (just like old times). From 3 to 5 pm that afternoon we will hold an ice cream social in the Celebration Center so we can all catch up on the Ehlerts’ year.
And then it will be August…more exciting things to come then.
Blessings upon all of you until July,
Jean, Dick, Gary, Alex, Pam, and Shaunda
